FASHION

FASHION

For as long as I can remember, I've had an inclination toward design, exploring this through several outlets. One that is especially personal and special, due to the excitement and creative stimulation it provides me every single day, is fashion.
I may not be a professional fashion designer, but the meticulous process I go through curating an outfit mimics the thorough manner in which I create all my art. Fashion may seem a less sophisticated art medium to some, but when you break down the intensive process it requires to put together an outfit- thoughtful planning, and thorough consideration of how different elements will interact and complement each other, it becomes clear how fashion relies upon the fundamentals of design. The elements and principles of texture, color, contrast, balance, and more are at the root of fashion just like any other avenue of art.
Some of my favorite places to get inspired are vintage magazines, paper doll illustrations from old newspapers or modern online spaces, and childhood television shows or movies. I started to draw more inspiration from these nostalgic sources upon rediscovery of online dress-up games I adored growing up. Another layer to this is appreciating the illustrations created by these artists; I have also been inspired to create my own illustrations and zines inspired by these themes.
